The Monmouth County boardwalks do not shut down after Labor Day. Asbury Park keeps its arcades, music venues and indoor shopping going all winter, and Long Branch has Pier Village and a county oceanfront park. Here is how to spend a winter day on the boardwalks of Asbury Park and Long Branch, NJ.
Convention Hall and the Grand Arcade
- Town: Asbury Park
- Where: 1300 Ocean Avenue
Convention Hall is the landmark of the Asbury Park boardwalk, and its indoor Grand Arcade makes it the natural warm-up stop on a winter boardwalk walk.
From November 27 to December 20, 2026, the Grand Arcade hosts the free Asbury Park Holiday Bazaar on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Silverball Retro Arcade
- Town: Asbury Park
- Where: 1000 Ocean Avenue
Silverball is a boardwalk arcade full of vintage pinball machines and classic video games. You pay for a timed pass and every game is free play, so there are no quarters to feed.
Active duty military and veterans get 20 percent off with ID. Call 732-774-4994 to confirm hours before a winter visit.
The Stone Pony
- Town: Asbury Park
- Where: 913 Ocean Avenue
The Stone Pony on Ocean Avenue books indoor shows through the winter, so a winter night out in Asbury Park can end with live music. Check the calendar for upcoming concerts.
Walk South to Ocean Grove
From the south end of the Asbury Park boardwalk, keep walking into Ocean Grove for a quieter stretch of beach and Victorian streets. The Jersey Shore Arts Center at 66 South Main Street hosts its holiday art market on Saturday, November 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pier Village
- Town: Long Branch
- Where: 50 Chelsea Avenue
Pier Village is Long Branch’s oceanfront district of shops and restaurants. A winter walk here pairs well with dinner and an ocean view.
The Pier Village Tree Lighting is Sunday, November 29, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Seven Presidents Oceanfront Park
- Town: Long Branch
- Where: 221 Ocean Avenue
- Winter hours: 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. through January 18; 6 p.m. January 19 to February 8; 6:30 p.m. February 9 to March 7
This 38 acre Monmouth County park sits on the beach in Long Branch. In the off season it is a good spot for a beach walk, the Tony’s Place universally accessible playground and the Skateplex, which closes at 4:30 p.m.
Lifeguards are off duty until summer, so stay out of the water. Pets are not allowed on the boardwalks at any time of year under park rules.

Where to Eat
Two Asbury Park pizza spots are within easy reach of the boardwalk: Talula’s at 550 Cookman Avenue serves sourdough pies and slices, and Porta at 911 Kingsley Street fires its pizza in a brick oven. In Long Branch, Pier Village has restaurants right on the oceanfront.
Winter Boardwalk Tips
- Go midday: County park closing times run as early as 5:30 p.m. through mid January, so plan beach walks for daylight.
- Dress for wind: It is always colder on the boardwalk than inland, so bring a hat and gloves.
- Check hours first: Many boardwalk businesses shorten their hours in winter, so call ahead.
